Phoenix Prepares for the Big Game with Electric Scooter and E-Bike Expansion - GOTRAX

The biggest game of the year is just a few weeks away and the city of Phoenix and the surrounding area is preparing for the massive influx of people. That means more people who will need to get where they need to go in a timely manner. Luckily, the city authorized a permanent policy for the electric scooters and e-bikes available for rent. This comes after three years since the city's initial pilot program for the e-rideables.

People will be able to utilize these e-scooters and e-bikes around downtown, most of south Phoenix and the area north of the airport, according the Micromobility Program Boundary map. Although, the area in and around Capitol Mall as well as all city parks within that boundary are no-ride zones. Phoenix, even with the new policy, still has some of the strictest rules compared to other cities in the U.S. Additionally, people must drop the rideables off in designated parking zones or use a built in lock to attach them to a bike rack if they are outside of said zones.

Lastly, 30% of the electric scooters and e-bikes must be deployed into equity zones in the southern and eastern parts of Phoenix. Residents in these areas have historically had fewer travel options. This helps ensure everyone gets to enjoy the advantages of affordable, electric transportation.

If you do plan on riding around your town on either a rental or personal electric vehicle please be sure to ride responsibly. Don't forget your helmet either!
