Keep Your Electric Scooter Safe this Summer

Keep Your Electric Scooter Safe this Summer - GOTRAX

Summer is just around the corner and we want to make sure you are prepped and ready for your summer rides with any of our adult electric scooters or e-bikes. GOTRAX is committed to helping you keep your e-scooter safe and protected from the outside world while you are out exploring it!

1. Use an Integrated Tiller Lock

For select GOTRAX adult electric scooter models are equipped with a wired tiller lock that can be used to attach your e-scooter to bike racks, railings or other objects secured to the ground so no one rides off with your electric scooter. The G3, G4, GMAX, GMAX Ultra, and G Pro all have this incredible feature so take advantage of it if you have one. You can even customize your lock to set your own 4 digit code.

2. Watch Where you Ride

It is important to take care of your scooter so it can take care of you. Pay attention to your surroundings and the roads/paths you ride on so you don't have to deal with flat tires, loose bolts, or damaged LED screens. Avoid glass or broken objects that may puncture your tire and tire tube. Don't ride your electric scooter off jumps or down stairs, our e-scooters aren't built for stunts they are built for the road. Weather can also be a huge factor, especially rain. Our electric scooters are rated IPX4 in waterproofing or higher. They can handle light rain and splashing but prolonged exposure to heavy rain can damage the e-scooter. Be sure to check the weather the days you're riding!

3. Purchase Additional Locks

Unfortunately, not all of our electric scooters feature an integrated lock such as our GXL V2 or Apex. We recommend a bike chain or u-lock as an additional form of security. Don't worry you can also use these on our integrated lock e-scooters! You can never be too safe if you have to lock-up your electric scooter to ensure it isn't stolen. The best places to attach your locks is through the non-motor tire or around the tiller. If you lock it around the tiller use a u-lock so the scooter cannot be maneuvered through a bike chain. Don't let your ride become someone else's.

4. Ride Together

Our last bit of advice for summer rides is the simplest. Ride with friends or family. Not only do you get to share the riding experience with another they or yourself can watch the e-scooters while the other is preoccupied. Having a person or people watching your electric scooter is the biggest deterrent against thieves riding away with your ride. Have fun riding this year but be sure to look after your electric scooter so you can keep enjoying the summer sun.
Ride safe and always wear a helmet!
