Wonderful news for the electric scooter riders of Tempe, Arizona. The city recently announced the creation of 41 parking spots or "corrals" for rental electric scooter riders to park once they are finished riding. They are expected to be located in the downtown area from University Drive to Rio Salado Parkway as well as from Famer to College avenues. Companies operating in Tempe will also geo-fence the areas. People could receive incentives for returning scooters should they return them to designated areas.
However, people can also see additional fees added to their ride if they don't park in designated areas which include but are not limited to the corrals. You shouldn't have to worry too much though as the 41 corrals are planned to be placed every quarter mile. This will help achieve Tempe's ultimate goal of becoming a 20 minute city. Wherein residents could bike, walk, or take public transportation to meet all of their needs within a 20 minute timeframe.
These are incredibly positive steps forward for the city of Tempe. However, if you want to avoid some of those extra fees mentioned above or just the cost to ride in general or just notice you need to travel a lot and want to avoid the soaring gas prices then we here at GOTRAX would recommend getting an electric scooter of your own.
