How GOTRAX Electric Scooters Handle in the Rain - GOTRAX

One of the most frequently asked questions through our social media platforms and communities is, "How our electric scooters handle in the rain?" since on most rainy days people still need to get to work, school, or the store.

For starters, all of GOTRAX's electric scooters and e-bikes have an IP waterproof rating attached to them in their specs dropdown menu. IP stands for ingress protection which ranges from IP01 to IP68. The ranges judge how much dust, water, and other contaminants a given electric scooter or e-bike can withstand before it stops functioning or operating.

IP Ingress Protection Guide/Chart

For instance the G3 electric scooter has a IP rating of IP54 so it can handle up dust protection for two to eight hours and splashing from all directions. Ratings go up as high to be dust and water proof, IP68, specifically but our e-scooters and e-bikes aren't meant to be submerged or run through dust storms. Our electric scooters and e-bikes can handle light to mild rain for your commute and quick trips. We recommend avoiding deep puddles and heavy rainstorms though as it could lead to problems with the wiring or battery in your ride. Keep your scooter safe this summer by riding when the sun is out and the skies are clear. Don't forget to wear a helmet either!
