Dan Sachs, owner of Happy EBikes, believes in the advantages and benefits electric bikes provide but states more needs to be done to ensure the safety of riders, especially children. Sachs goes on to say, "You should be able to pass a test in my opinion, but right now its the wild west. You get a lot of pepople complaining that kids are very reckless and quite frankly a lof of them are. It comes down to being very cautious on the road, and I believe people should take a course on how to ride a bike."
Accidents and crashes are avoidable. If everyone is properly equipped with the right information and safety equipment to be on the road. Including motorists and pedestrians. Although, micro-mobility users aren't guilt free in this situation. It is important for everyone to respect the rules of the road to ensure the safety of each other. Nevertheless, e-bikes will continue to populate roads as they proceed to outsell electric cars year to year in the United States.
There must be a change in the car-centric lifestyle people have seemingly become dependent on. The demand for electric bikes, e-scooters, and other rideables show that micro-mobility is the future. However, change will only happen should people stand together asking for change. This will only work if all commuters are on the same page. Please remember to ride responsibly and don't forget to wear your helmet. Don't run stop signs, red lights or cut off pedestrians in cross-walks. In the very near future, we will all adventure together.
Ride Together. Ride GOTRAX.
