The Shift S1 Guide - GOTRAX

Troubleshooting your Shift S1

Gotrax may be known for it's hoverboards and electric scooters, but our E-Bikes broke into the electric vehicle scene like a lighting storm. Our Shift S1 was the first e-bike to be release by Gotrax. While it is our oldest e-bike to date, it is still among one of our most popular models.

Making your Shift S1 Last

Be sure to inspect your bike before and after every ride for damages. This helps to insure you catch any problems quickly to get them solved as fast as possible so you can go back to riding.

The Shift S1 is a commuter e-bike. It works best in cities on smooth roads, paths and bike lanes. Taking your Shift S1 across adverse terrain may cause damage not covered under warranty. It is important to take care of your e-bike so it can take care of you.

DO NOT use any corrosive solvents or cleaners to clean your e-bike. A soft damp cloth is the best to use if your e-bike needs a wash. DO NOT use a pressure washer to clean your e-bike.

Make sure you do not overcharge the battery on your Shift S1. Overcharging can shorten the lifespan of your battery, make it over heat quicker and can result in the battery becoming unusable.

Keep your e-bike out of extreme temperatures. High heat, over 110 degrees, and freezing cold, 0 degrees or below, can have adverse affects on your e-bike's battery and inner-wiring.

If you want to get the most distance out of each charge be sure to use assist mode and avoid zero starting. Frequent braking, driving against the wind, carrying heavy loads including other people and riding with insufficient air pressure can make your battery lose its charge quicker.

If your Shift S1 isn't functioning properly or needs some new parts please take a look at the Parts page on Gotrax's website. We have several replacement parts available for you! The most common reports we get are for broken handle bars or a tire being popped. These are easy to avoid and remedy.

Take care of your Shift S1, it is not a stunt bike and is meant to ridden on flat, smooth roads. Be sure to put the kickstand up when you are not riding it or it could fall over and cause damage to the handlebars.

Avoid getting flat tires and stay away from hazards on your local bike path. We know you can't see everything underneath you when riding but be mindful of your surroundings and take every precaution to avoid a flat tire.

Take a Look at the Shift S1 User's Manual.
