For years, off-road riders have enjoyed the thrill of ripping through trails on dirt bikes. Their unmatched power and specialized design has left them as the unparalleled kings of off-road riding. In recent years, however, a new alternative has emerged: electric dirt bikes. While they look and behave similarly to their gas-powered cousins, electric dirt bikes aren’t quite the same in the way they handle and operate. This isn’t a bad thing, though: e-dirt bikes have a number of benefits that we think dirt bike riders should consider, so today, we’re going to highlight why it is that you should try an electric dirt bike.
They’re Quieter
The roaring sound of a gas engine has been permanently ingrained in the minds of many of us living today. While dirt bikes can be identified by this iconic sound, electric dirt bikes are actually much quieter. An electric motor produces significantly less noise when compared to the internal combustion engine of a traditional dirt bike. This is great for those who’d like to use their e-dirt bike for something a little stealthier (like hunting), for those who ride in more populated areas, or even for those who simply enjoy a quieter ride.
They’re More Affordable
The upfront costs of dirt bikes of both kinds vary. However, while some e-dirt bikes may be more expensive than their gas-powered counterparts in the checkout aisle, they’ll save you a lot of money in the long run. Gas-powered dirt bikes typically need more maintenance, such as air filter cleanings and oil changes, so they cost more to operate long-term. In addition, the price of fueling a dirt bike with gasoline is notably higher than the cost of charging an electric dirt bike with electricity. If you keep your e-dirt bike in good condition and ride it regularly, then it’ll be cheaper than a gas-powered dirt bike in the long run.
They’re Cleaner
While it may be obvious that electric dirt bikes are better for the environment, it’s still worth stating. Dirt bikes are often ridden in more off-road, natural areas. This means that you’re sharing your track or trail space with plants and wildlife. By riding electric vehicles instead of gas vehicles, we better preserve the spaces we ride in for the other living beings that we share them with.
Whether you’re a dirt biking veteran or a novice off-road rider, electric dirt bikes can be a lot of fun. They’ll keep you more in-touch with nature as you conquer the terrain around you, creating a riding experience you won’t find anywhere else. We have two models of electric dirt bike: the Everest and the K2. Both offer immensely powerful motors and full suspension systems alongside deep-tooth tires and a variety of safety and control features, giving you the ultimate off-road ride. Just remember to check the rules of any trail or track you want you take on before you ride it, and always wear a helmet!
