Much of the thrill present in riding an electric bike comes from the ability to go faster than you would normally be able to on a traditional bike. While some electric bikes can reach their fastest speeds right out of the box, others may be limited until you adjust your settings. This includes a number of GOTRAX models. Today, to help you make the most of your electric bike, we’ll be going over how to adjust the maximum speed on your GOTRAX electric bike.
This guide covers adjusting the speed for the CTI 2, CTI 3, F2 V2, F3 V2, Alpine, and MX1. For instructions on how to adjust the maximum speed of other models, check your user’s manual. Note that some GOTRAX models, such as the CTI and F1 V2, are set to their maximum speed limit by default.
CTI 2, CTI 3, F2 V2, F3 V2, Alpine
First, you’ll need to enter the settings menu. This is done by pressing the + and - buttons simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.
From there, you can press the + or - button to navigate through the settings menu until you find the setting for the speed limit. When you’ve selected the speed limit setting, press the “i” button to select the setting and modify your bike’s maximum speed limit.
While on the screen for modifying your bike’s maximum speed, you can use the + and - buttons to adjust the value up or down. If you press and hold the buttons, the value will continuously increase or decrease.
When you’ve adjusted the speed limit setting to your desired value, press the i button to save your settings. This will return you to the settings menu. In the settings menu, give the i button a long press to save all of your settings and exit the settings menu.
MX1
To enter the settings menu, press the down arrow and the M button simultaneously for more than two seconds. You can then use the up and down arrows to switch between different menu items. Once the speed limit setting is highlighted, press the M button to enter the speed limit menu.
In the speed limit menu, you can use the up and down arrows to adjust the bike’s maximum speed limit. The speed limit can be set as low as 10 MPH (16 KM/H) and as high as 28 MPH (45 KM/H). Once you’ve set your desired speed limit, press and hold the M button to save and exit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How high can I set the speed limit setting?
A. The maximum speed limit varies from bike to bike, but for pedal assist mode, it is usually either 20 miles per hour (32 kilometers per hour), 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers per hour), or 28 miles per hour (45 kilometers per hour). No GOTRAX electric bike can go faster than 28 miles per hour.
Q. Why can’t I change my throttle speed?
A. The maximum throttle speed of all GOTRAX electric bikes is locked at 20 miles per hour, and this setting cannot be adjusted.
Q. My bike isn’t listed in this guide. Can I still adjust my maximum speed limit?
A. Check your user’s manual for more information about your bike’s maximum speed limit and speed limit settings. This guide was designed for models that are not at their maximum speed limit by default. Other models, such as the CTI and F1, have an adjustable speed limit, but are at their maximum speed limit by default. For these models, the speed limit can still be adjusted down, but there is no way to set a higher maximum speed than the default.
